What I noticed about this general 1940's style is that the combination of bias-cut fabric, gathers under the bust, and close-fitting back shaping creates an incredibly slender silhouette. This jacket looks like a size 4 or 6 in photos and on bodies, but it's quite a bit larger. It's all in the carefully executed cut.
